Commercial Radio Interview

Awardees of 2017 Sustainable Development Award were being interviewed by the Commercial Radio. Interviews were aired on 15 to 17 and 20 to 22 November, 2017, during CR1 programme “On a Clear Day” (Hosts: Chan Chi Wan, Chan Chung, Kwok Chi Yan).

Dr. William Yu, CEO of World Green Organisation, feels delighted seeing many enterprises have been actively promoting environmental friendly actions and progressing in ESG aspects. No matter it is small or large enterprise, they can all participate and promote sustainable development.

Mr. Derek Wu, CEO of Future Lighting Collection Limited, agrees that technological development brings new environmental inspirations to its industry and lighting products. Energy is largely saved and customers’ confidence can be boosted when all the lighting products in the company have been replaced by LED.

Ms. Linda Choy, Vice President, Public Affairs of Hongkong International Theme Parks Limited stresses that it is essential to have comprehensive planning to infuse environmental elements into business. Hongkong International Theme Parks has installed a centralized water-cooled air conditioning system to reduce carbon emission and be able to collect rainwater from the Inspiration Lake.

Mr. Gray Chan, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Sustainability of NWS Holdings Limited, believes that when there is a will, it will not be a difficulty in balancing environmental needs and business development. NWS has committed environmental management as part of its business areas, providing expertise in waste-to-energy services.

Ms. Michelle Lam, Director, Corporate and Marketing Communication of Kerry Properties Limited, suggests that they have met the targeted carbon emission reduction level two years earlier than the targeted year. They will keep devoting efforts in sustainability by raising the future carbon emission reduction level, alongside with the works in incentivising tenants economically to encourage the recycling of plastic bottle and reduce the amount of waste production.

Last year, the World Green Organisation (WGO) initiated our first “Sustainable Business Award”, presenting the award to 10 enterprises. This year, WGO will continue to launch the “Sustainable Business Award 2016” to encourage enterprises to expand their sustainable development and embark their green journey through competition. Earlier on, Chief Executive Officer Dr. William Yu was invited to Commercial Radio for an interview on the “On a Clear Day” program with Mr. Stephan Chan, Mr. Cong Chan and Mr. Chi Yan Kwok to share insights on the sustainable development trend. Dr. Yu spoke about the current global environmental concerns such as climate change, energy shortage and how to balance the interest of multiple parties while reserving resources. He also noted that to save energy and to improve cost-effectiveness have become the major concerns of enterprises. Through the “Sustainable Business Awards”, local companies can raise their awareness on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects of their operations and helps businesses to have a “check-up” of their own company’s existing performance. This competition helps them to examine their performances in the four areas of Workplace Quality, Environmental Protection, Operation Practice and Community Involvement, helping the industry to polish their skills. Learning from the experiences of the successful and from each other, promote ecological balances in enterprises.
