Dr. Tientip Subhanij

Chief, Investment and Enterprise Development, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)

Ms. Tientip Subhanij is Chief of Investment and Enterprise Development of United Nations ESCAP. She has more than 20 years of experience in macroeconomics, financial sector, international trade and investment issues. Throughout her career, she has served in several key managerial and professional positions in academia, government and private sector, including the Bank of Thailand, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, Bank for International Settlements and South East Asian Central Banks. At United Nations ESCAP, she has managed a large portfolio of work on climate finance, SME financing and infrastructure investment for a wide range of countries in Asia Pacific region and beyond.

She provided advisory services on sustainable capital market development and successfully helped the Royal Government of Bhutan issue its first-ever sovereign bond in 2020. She is a founder of the Infrastructure Financing and Public- Private Partnership Network of Asia and the Pacific and is instrumental in mobilizing private finance for sustainable development. She has published widely in the areas of macroeconomics, financial market, international finance, business and investment. Ms. Subhanij holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Mr. Joseph Ho-lim Chan, JP

Under Secretary, Financial Services and the Treasury, FSTB, The Government of Hong Kong SAR

Mr Chan was appointed the Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury on 16 August 2017.

Mr Chan has many years of senior executive experience in the banking industry. He was a Managing Director in the Global Markets Division of Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank, and was a Managing Director in Financial Markets of Standard Chartered Bank.

Prior to joining the Government, Mr Chan held multiple roles in a number of public and professional bodies, including Vice President of the Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts, Director of Hong Kong Securities & Investment Institute, Advisor of the Chinese Gold & Silver Exchange Society, as well as a General Committee member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Chan was also a member of the Central & Western District Council. Mr Chan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Hon) and Psychology from the University of Michigan, USA. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Mr. Tim Lui, SBS, JP

Chairman, Securities and Futures Commission (SFC)

Mr Lui is a Fellow Member of The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and a Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He was elected President of HKICPA in 1997.

He was a Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) in Hong Kong, Lead Director of the Board of Partners and a member of the Global Board of PwC International Limited.

Mr Lui has been active in public and community service. Currently, he is Chairman of the Education Commission and a member of the University Grants Committee and the Public Service Commission.

Currently, Mr Lui is a Director of the Academy of Finance. He is also a member of the Financial Leaders Forum and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s Exchange Fund Advisory Committee and Banking Advisory Committee.

Dr. William Yu

Founder & Chief Executive Officer, World Green Organisation

Dr. William Yu is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of World Green Organisation (WGO). Dr. Yu is an energy economist and climate professional by training and completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge. He also earned an Executive MBA degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University in the U.S. Additionally, Dr. Yu had gained valuable regional management experience by working at US multinationals and a financial institution. Dr. Yu is currently the Adjunct Professor of several local and overseas universities.
Currently, Dr. Yu is the ESBN Task Force Member of The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) of United Nations. Dr. Yu sits in the Steering Committee of FOOD-CO of the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. He also serves in the working group of Sustainability Charter, Hong Kong and Malmo, Sweden, and is a Faculty of The Hong Kong Green Building Council. Dr. Yu belongs to the Air Quality Objectives Review Working Group of HK Environmental Protection Department, and is a Member of the Appeal Board Panel, Town Planning as well as Sustainable Development Council, HK SAR Government.
Dr. Yu has served as Deputy Chairman of Final Judging Panel of Smart Living Award and Head Assessor in Smart Healthcare Stream, The Hong Kong ICT Awards. He is the Chairman of the Judging Panel of BDO ESG Awards. He advises investment banks and public accounting firms on Sustainable Investing and ESG reporting, respectively. Dr. Yu is also appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of a publicly listed company.

Dr. King Au

Executive Director, Financial Services Development Council (FSDC)

Dr Au is Executive Director of Financial Services Development Council (FSDC). Prior to joining the FSDC, he was President of Value Partners Group Limited. Dr Au also served as CEO of Eastspring Investments (Hong Kong) Limited and CEO of BOCHK Asset Management Limited. He also held various senior management positions at other financial institutions including Baring, GMO and HSBC Global Asset Management.

Dr Au was named CEO of the Year in Hong Kong by Asia Asset Management in 2012 and 2014. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by the HKSAR Government in 2008 for his valuable contributions to the securities and asset management industry. He was also the Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI) from 2006 to 2008 and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association in 2004/2005.

Dr Au is currently serving as a Council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Public Accountants, an Index Advisory Committee member of China Securities Index Co., Limited and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hong Kong among other public services.

Dr Au is a CFA Charterholder and a Senior Fellow of HKSI. He received his BA in Physics from the University of Oxford and PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Durham.

Prof. Albert Ip

Chairman World Green Organisation

Albert Ip was an International banking executive, with over 30 years of experience in the U.S. and Hong Kong. Previously Managing Director at Citigroup and Managing Director (Investments) at Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific), Mr. Ip was Chief Executive Officer of Langham Hospitality Investments from 2014 to 2019.

Mr. Ip is an Independent Non-executive Director of New World Development, Power Assets, Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong and Lifestyle International Holdings. He is also a non-executive Director of Eagle Asset Management (CP) Limited. Mr. Ip was previously Independent Non-executive Director of Hopewell Holdings, Hopewell Highway Infrastructure, New World China Land, TOM Group and Aeon Credit Service (Asia) Co.

Mr. Ip is a Council Member of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a trustee of the Board of Trustees at Washington University in St. Louis and an alumni Hall of Fame at the Electrical and Systems Engineering. He was previously a Council Member of Lingnan University and a Board of Governor of Technological & Higher Education Institute.

He is an Adjunct Professor of Chinese University, City University, Hang Seng University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is also an Adjunct Distinguished Professor in Practice at University of Macau.

Mr. Ip is Chairman of the World Green Organisation and an Honorary Fellow of the Vocational Training Council. He was previously Council Member of the Better Hong Kong Foundation and a Member of the Legal Aid Services Council of the HKSAR.

Mr. Ip earned a BS degree from Washington University in St. Louis, summa cum laude and MS degrees from Cornell University and Carnegie-Mellon University.

Prof. Louis Cheng

​​Dr. S H Ho Professor of Banking and Finance Director of the Research Centre for ESG Director of the Research Institute for Business The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong

Dr. Cheng is the Dr. S H Ho Professor of Banking and Finance. He is also the Director of the Research Centre for ESG as well as the Research Institute for Business at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Investment Committee of the Hospital Authority Provident Fund Scheme (2016-2022) in which he leads the effort in promoting ESG integration for an investment portfolio of about USD 8.74bil (as of March 2020). Dr. Cheng actively engages in ESG and green finance research. In addition to publishing on Green Bond, he received various research donation and grants related to ESG and financial services for a total exceeding HKD8mil. He is also a coauthor of a book chapter titled “Fintech Unicorns” in The Palgrave Handbook of Fintech and Blockchain, 2021.

Dr. Cheng is a member of the Business Studies Assessment Panel for Competitive Research Funding Schemes for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector under the Research Grants Council (RGC). He also served as a member of the Business Studies Panel (Joint Research Schemes) for the RGC, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel, and University Council and Trustee Board of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Pension Fund. He is currently a member of the Examination Board of The Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK).

Dr. Cheng graduated with a DBA in Finance from Louisiana Tech University in 1989. He has been a CFPCM certificant since 2001. Before joining Hang Seng University, he was Professor of Finance and Director of Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial finance at PolyU. From 1989 to 1998, he was an Assistant Professor and then Associate Professor at Murray State University in Kentucky. In 2003, he served as the HSBC Fellow at the University of Exeter in UK. Moreover. He has over 100 articles and books published including the Journal of Finance. Dr. Cheng is an author of Fundamentals of Financial Planning, and the lead author of Financial Planning and Wealth Management: An International Perspective, both by McGrawHill.

Dr. Shauhrat Chopra

Dr. Shauhrat S. Chopra received his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh, USA, in 2015. His doctoral dissertation was focused on resilience of complex systems including economic systems, industrial symbiosis, and critical infrastructure systems at urban and national levels. Before joining the School of Energy and Environment, Shauhrat worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Environmental Science and Policy, University of Illinois at Chicago, on the U.S. EPA funded LCnano project focused on sustainable design of future transformative emerging technologies, such as nano-enabled products. His data-driven research is focused on designing indicators for sustainability and resilience of the built environment in support of environmental decision-making.

Ms. Helena Fung

As Head of Sustainable Investment, Asia Pacific, Helena is responsible for FTSE Russell’s Sustainable Investment strategy and product development across the Asia Pacific region, focused on indexes, data and analytics solutions. Mr. Fan Dong Xing

Mr. Fan Dongxing is currently the Deputy Director of the National Carbon Market Operation Center of Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.

His main research areas include the design of carbon emission trading systems, research on trading rules and regulations, trading market and risk management, etc.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as the head of the transaction management department of the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, responsible for the trading organisations and market management of the spot and future business of the Shanghai carbon market.

Since 2017, as a core backbone, he has participated in the national carbon emissions trading system and building of the declaration work. After the national carbon emissions trading system is settled in Shanghai, he continued to promote the building of the national carbon market trading rules and regulations and other related works. During the period, he participated in more than ten major projects in the field of carbon trading and pollution emission trading by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, Shanghai Municipality, and the World Bank, including “Research on National Carbon Emission Trading Rules”, “National Carbon Market Trading Supervision Mechanism Research”, “Shanghai Second Phase Carbon Trading Overall Design and Scheme Formulation”, “Yangtze River Delta Cross-Regional Emission Trading Platform and Support System Research”, etc.

Ken Chiu serves as Senior Vice President of Head of Carbon & ESG Products at HKEX since 2022, responsible for fostering the Carbon & ESG product businesses for the exchange.

Mr. Chiu has more than 15 years of experience in the industry. He has worked in various functional areas including structuring and marketing positions in global markets of investment banks in both Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China. He has also been actively engaging in RMB internationalisation and cross-border business activities since 2009.

Mr. Chiu joined HKEX in 2018. Prior to his current role, Mr. Chiu was Senior Vice President of Fixed Income and Currency (FIC) Development responsible for FIC derivative and bond listing businesses at HKEX. He holds an MSc in Mathematics for Finance and Actuarial Science from the Université Paris-Dauphine and a BBA in Finance from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Angus Yip

Founding Chairman, International Chamber of Sustainable Development (ICSD)

Dr. Angus Yip is a veteran corporate banker (trade finance and syndication) and asset manager for more than 30 years. He is now working with listed companies on their ESG reports and used to work with a sizable private equity fund for the ESG performance of its portfolio companies. Dr. Yip is also Adjunct Associate Professor at Hong Kong University SPACE and was awarded “Outstanding Teacher” at HKU SPACE in 2017.

Dr. Yip completed the GRI Certified Training Program for sustainability reporting. In 2014-17, Angus was invited to deliver seminars on ESG reporting and sustainability topics at Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Federation of Industry, Hong Kong Institute of Bankers and Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dr. Yip was one of the assessors for “The Unilever Sustainable Living Young Entrepreneur Awards 2013/14” in the U.K.. Dr. Yip collaborated with his master’s dissertation supervisor at Cambridge University, Professor Nancy Bocken, to publish an academic paper “Sustainable Business Models for Banking in Hong Kong” in the Journal of Cleaner Production. Dr Angus Yip is a Chartered Banker (U.K.) and Certified Banker (H.K.). He was educated in the U.K. and obtained double Master Degrees from the University of Cambridge (Sustainability Leadership) and Lancaster University (Accounting & Finance) respectively. He also has a Master degree in Management from Harvard University. Dr. Yip was awarded his doctoral degree at the University of Wales TSD, his thesis topic is about the disclosure quality of the environmental KPIs in ESG reporting.

Ms. Christina Hau

Ms Christina Hau is the Chief Executive Officer of Champion Real Estate Investment Trust, overseeing its strategic development, asset management, asset enhancement and investment opportunities.

Ms Hau is a Registered Architect in Hong Kong with over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, covering design, planning, project management and asset management of renowned world-class commercial complexes. Mr. Bing Leng

Member, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)

Bing Leng was appointed as a full-time member of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in June 2022, effective 1 July 2022.

He joins the ISSB from the Chinese Ministry of Finance where he was responsible for sustainability reporting initiatives. He initiated and led the implementation of several reporting-related programmes, including the development of digital taxonomies to enable electronic reporting, the revised financial instrument accounting standards and plans focused on digitising electronic payment vouchers and invoices.

Mr. Leng was a member of the International Accounting Standards Board’s IFRS Taxonomy Consultative Group from 2019 to 2022 and a member of the Board of Directors of XBRL International from 2014 to 2020.

He is a Doctor of Management and has a Master of Accounting from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics in China.

Tan Sri Yeoh has served the Government as Malaysia’s Representative (Ambassador rank) to the ASEAN High Level Task Force on Connectivity, Commissioner in the Royal Commission of Police, Member of the Malaysia Competition Commission, member Advisory Board of the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission and Commissioner in the Human Rights Commission (SUHAKAM). He was a member of the National Unity Consultative Council. He was recently appointed to the Executive Council of the United Nations ESCAP Business Sustainable Network (ESBN) and was elected Chairman of PROHAM (the Society for Promotion of Human Rights, Malaysia).

He has authored 5 books and have spoken at forums organized by the World Economic Forum, Confederation of Indian Industry, Centre for China and Globalization, the Asia Society, the China Development Institute, World Policy Conference and Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Mr. Kenneth Hui

Kenneth Hui is the Head of Market Development Division of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), in charge of the HKMA’s efforts to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness as an international financial centre. Ms. Serena Mak

Serena is currently working as Executive Director in the Sustainable Finance team within the Institutional Banking Group of DBS Hong Kong.

Prior to DBS, Serena was the Head of ESG Funding Asia for Home Credit, an international consumer finance provider that focuses on responsible lending to people with little or no credit history.

Serena also has over 15 years of experience with Goldman Sachs treasury and market operations in Singapore and Hong Kong, with focus on liquidity management and payment transaction surveillance across the APAC region.

Prof. Johnny Chan

Professor Chan is internationally renowned in the research areas of typhoons, monsoons and climate change. He is currently an Emeritus Professor at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) where he was Chair Professor of Applied Physics/Atmospheric Science before his retirement in 2021. He was also the Founding Dean of the School of Energy and Environment of CityU.

Professor Chan also served on a number of regional and international weather and climate authorities and advisory bodies to shape climate policy decisions and responses. His former responsibilities include Review Editor of the IPCC AR6 Working Group 1 Report, Chair of the Tropical Meteorology Research Working Group Tropical Cyclone Panel under the United Nations World Meteorological Organisation, and Director of the Shanghai Typhoon Institute of the China Meteorological Administration.

Mr. Carson Wen, BBS, JP

Founder, Bank of Asia (BVI) Limited

Carson Wen is the Founder of Bank of Asia (BVI) Limited and BOA International Financial Group Limited which also includes various entities with Types 1,2,4 and 9 licenses issued by the Hong Kong Securities and Future Commission. He has practiced law for over 30 years at his own Hong Kong partnership and subsequently as partner at leading global law firms, retiring from Jones Day at the end of 2016. In his long professional career he handled the capital markets entry of the first PRC-controlled Hong Kong listed company Guangdong Investment, the first window company to be directly listed Guangnan Holdings, some of the first PRC private enterprises to be listed via the “round-trip investment” structure which became standard practice, and some of the first “VIE” structures which also became standard practice. He has also handled many complexly structured transactions as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer. He was regularly listed in the likes of “Who’s Who in the Law” and “Chambers”.

Mr. Wen was a three-term Deputy to the National People’s Congress of China, which is the PRC’s national legislature and constitutionally the highest organ of state power, representing Hong Kong. He is also a Justice of the Peace of Hong Kong and held various public service appointments in Mainland China and Hong Kong. He was Vice-Chairman and currently Party Affairs Advisor of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (“DAB”), the largest political party in Hong Kong.

Mr. Wen is a member of the Executive Council of the Sustainable Business Network of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and former Chairman of its Task Force on Green Business. He is also a Director of the Pacific Basin Economic Council. He is also, inter alia, a Founding Director of the China M&A Association.

Mr. Wen was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government for his contribution to economic ties between Hong Kong, Mainland China and the rest of the world.

Mr. Wen obtained his B.A. from Columbia University, where he majored in economics, and B.A. and M.A. from Balliol College, Oxford University, where he studied law and was Younger Prizeman in Law for 1976.
Mr. Wen is an Independent Non-Executive Director of NYSE-listed Phoenix New Media, a media company and HKSE-listed Winox Holdings, an industrial enterprise.

Mr. Dennis Wan

Dennis Wan heads the front-line team servicing regional companies in disclosure to CDP. After personally witnessing forest fires in USA, Mr. Wan changed career focus to drive environmental transparency by joining CDP. Immediately prior, he spent 22 years with Credit Suisse across Tokyo, New York and Singapore, rising from junior accountant to Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong. In this final role, he ran the Board of Directors and locational governance for all banking business lines and support functions, interacting regularly with international regulators and authorities. Mr. Wan studied with the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, graduated from Imperial College and is a Chartered Accountant.

Prof. Elvis Au, BBS

Adjunct Professor, University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology

Professor Elvis Au, BBS, is Adjunct Professor of the Department of Urban Planning and Design and Department of Geography of the University of Hong Kong, teaching climate change and energy, sustainability and strategic environmental planning for undergraduate and master students. He is also Adjunct Professor of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology teaching public policy and ecodesign. He is the former Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR Government, the Former President of the International Association for Impact Assessment, and the Former Chairman of the Environmental Division of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). He holds MSc(UrbanPlan) and MSc(Finance) degrees and is a Fellow of both the Hong Kong Institute of Planners and HKIE, with over 37 years of experiences (including 32 years in the Government) in environmental protection, strategic environmental planning, sustainability, climate and energy and smart city, including the development of waste to energy policies and the largest waste to energy facility in Hong Kong. In particular, Professor Au was the chairman of the HKIE’s Green Finance Taskforce, leading Taskforce to produce the first professional brief on green finance in Hong Kong in 2017.

experience in air pollution control, energy and carbon management, cleaner production, environmental
management and ESG studies; food and new materials as well as Traditional Chinese Medicine consultancy
services for public and private sectors of Hong Kong. On top of leading a wide range of environmental and
energy related projects and studies for the government, public, industrial and commercial sectors, Mr. Fong has
been a co-opt member of the HKSAR Government’s Energy Efficiency & Conservation Subcommittee since
2008 until 2021 to offer expert advice to the Government on energy policy formulation. Mr. Fong is currently an
Adjunct Professor of City University of Hong Kong and Adjunct Professor of University of Hong Kong.

Ms. Sandy Song

Assistant Director, HK Observatory

Sandy Song is the Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory. She oversees the scientific developments of climate change and promote public awareness of climate change. She also leads her team on the provision of climate services, climate projections, and provide scientific support to climate change related consultancy studies and infrastructure projects. Her team also conducts researches on past trends and future climate change projections of temperature, rainfall, sea level and extreme weather in Hong Kong, and through the “Climate Change” webpage summarizes the past and projected climate trends in the global as well as local contexts and provides the latest updates and relevant data on climate change issues

Mr. Oliver Zhang

Oliver is a Partner of Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) in EY Hong Kong and Climate Risk solution leader in EY APAC. He has more than 15 years of experience on risk management both in banking and consulting services to local, mainland and international banks. 

Oliver has extensive experience on climate risk stress testing, and he has led and is currently leading more than 20 banks in Hong Kong on climate risk stress testing as well as compliance with HKMA supervisory policy manual - GS-1 climate risk management.

Mr. Frank Wong

Mr. Frank Wong is a multi-disciplinary professional in development industry specializing in cross-disciplinary project management and town planning. Throughout his career, he has been accumulating a variety of project management experience and skills on cultural district planning & development; new town planning & development; and design and implementation of sustainable greening framework from both public and private sectors. His town planning and real estate experience includes planning studies and research; statutory planning; public engagement; development consultancy; urban design & master planning; strategic planning; cross-boundary facilities planning; real estate feasibility study and preliminary valuation; etc..

Key projects with his involvement include Project Consultancy Study for West Kowloon Cultural District – Development Plan, Multi-purpose Sports Complex in Kai Tak; Planning and Engineering Study for Kwu Tung South – Feasibility Study; Kai Tak Development; Planning and Engineering Study for North East New Territories New Development Areas – Investigation (Hong Kong), Planning Study for Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Cross-Boundary Control Point and its Associated Connecting Road and Planning Study for Lok Ma Chau Loop (on Shenzhen’s side).

He now works for Nanoshields Technology Ltd, a subsidiary of Kings Flair, in the Research & Development department helping develop products using new technology and sustainable materials as a focus.
