High indoor temperature poses health threats to households living in Sub-divided Flats

World Green Organisation has investigated the indoor temperature of a number of sub-divided flats since 22th July 2013.  A sub-divided flat located in Kwun Tong with 35.7 degree Celsius measured in the afternoon of 30th July 2013 holds the highest indoor temperature record. The temperature was higher than the ambient temperature in Kwun Tong recorded by Hong Kong Observatory at the same time for 5 degree Celsius.

According to health expert, the households may suffer from heat stroke when living in hot indoor environment. To help the households, WGO urges the Commission on Poverty or the Community Care Fund to take care of the energy needs of the households living in sub-divided flats who have not yet enjoyed electricity tariff subsidy.
